BALLYGOWAN FLUTE BAND

Paul Linke

Paul Lincke was born in Germany on 07 November 1866 and he was a German composer and publisher. His march Berliner Luft is his best known work and is frequently played on our air waves. It is also a favourite encore of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra - his march Vater Rhein (Father Rhine) is not quite so well known.

It was Paul Lincke who coaxed Hermann Blankenburg to enter his march Deutschlands Fürsten* in the Hawkes competition in London (see our Blankenburg page).

* Germany's Princes - better known in English speaking countries as Gladiators Farewell).
